J&K Police Launches Statewide Cleanliness Drive under ‘Swachhta Abhiyan’

Srinagar, Sept 29: Jammu and Kashmir Police has started a large-scale cleanliness campaign as part of the nationwide Swachhta Abhiyan. The drive began with pledge ceremonies and is being led by senior police officers across the Union Territory.
The campaign focuses on keeping police establishments and surrounding areas clean, removing waste and debris, and promoting hygiene. Police personnel are also holding awareness sessions, tree plantation drives, and encouraging local youth to take part in environmental activities.
Different battalions and police units across J&K have taken part in the initiative. Highlights include:
JKAP 8th Bn: Two-week cleanliness drive at its new land in Ghou Manhasan.
IRP 24th Bn: Plantation drive at its upcoming HQ in Ritti, Udhampur.
IRP 13th & 9th Bns: Cleanliness drives at HQs and company premises; IRP 13th also planted trees with Social Forestry Department.
IRP 20th Bn: Special anti-polythene drive at Parihaspora.
IRP 2nd Bn (Rajouri) & JKAP 6th Bn (Mendhar): Cleanliness drives at battalion premises.
IRP 10th & 11th Bns: Drives at APC Mattan and Anantnag under Seva Parv.
IRP 23rd (Lethpora) & IRP 5th (Doda): Week-long drives at unit HQs.
JKAP 9th & IRP 19th (Kathua): Cleanliness and plantation drives.
IRP 2nd Women Bn: Fitness and wellness activities under Seva Parv.
IRP 8th (Manasbal) & IRP 21st (Bandipora): Drives with active participation of locals and school children.
IRP 18th (Jammu): Cleanliness drive at DPL.
Similarly, district police units in Anantnag, Handwara, Kulgam, Awantipora, Ganderbal, Sopore, and Shopian also carried out cleanliness drives and took the Swachhta pledge.
The CID Wing and State Investigation Agency (SIA) also joined the campaign, cleaning their offices and surrounding areas in Jammu and Srinagar.
Local residents, shopkeepers, and youth groups actively participated, praising the police for promoting civic sense and environmental care.
With this campaign, J&K Police has reinforced its commitment to a cleaner environment and community well-being, aligning with the vision of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.(KINS)
