Jammu, Jan 14 (KINS): Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan on Wednesday chaired a high-level meeting in Jammu to review overall security arrangements and assess the progress of ongoing anti-terror operations in the region.

Govind Mohan as per news agency Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS) arrived in Jammu on a two-day visit along with senior central government officials and proceeded directly to the convention centre to chair the security review, officials said.

The meeting was attended by Intelligence Bureau Director Tapan Deka, Director General of the Border Security Force Praveen Kumar, CRPF Director General G P Singh, Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat, besides senior officers from the Army, police, civil administration and intelligence agencies.

Security officials briefed the Home Secretary on major anti-terror operations currently underway, particularly in high-altitude areas and forest belts of the Jammu region. They informed that nearly three dozen terrorists, including some Pakistani nationals, are believed to be hiding in these areas after infiltrating into the region over the past two years.

The meeting also reviewed the recent increase in drone activity along the International Border and the Line of Control. Officials said intelligence inputs indicate that terrorists are attempting to exploit dense fog conditions to facilitate infiltration.

The Home Secretary stressed the need for strong coordination among all security agencies to ensure effective counter-terror operations and maintain overall security in the region.(KINS)
