BJP demands justice and inclusive development ahead of J&K Budget

Jammu, Feb 05 (KINS): The BJP leadership in Jammu on Thursday highlighted public expectations from the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir budget and demanded justice and inclusive development for the region.

Addressing a press conference at the party office, BJP Chief Spokesperson Sunil Sethi, along with Rajni Sethi, Zorawar Singh and Parimoksh Seth, said the budget is being presented at a crucial time under the NC-Congress government.

Sunil Sethi accused the ruling alliance of creating divisions on religious, linguistic and caste lines and alleged that Jammu has faced long-standing discrimination under previous NC and Congress governments. He said people are hopeful that the new budget will provide much-needed relief.

He also questioned the UT government’s dependence on Central funds and lack of a clear vision for building a self-reliant Jammu and Kashmir. Citing neighbouring states, he said focused development in horticulture, hydropower, agriculture and industry is needed to strengthen the local economy.

Rajni Sethi focused on women’s expectations from the budget and stressed the need for financial, educational and social empowerment. She demanded interest-free loans for Self Help Groups, free education and coaching for girls, sports scholarships, better health facilities and safe accommodation for working women.

She criticised poor implementation of welfare schemes, saying free bus services for women and marriage assistance schemes have failed due to lack of planning.

Zorawar Singh accused the government of failing to fulfil its election promises and alleged neglect of tourism and industrial sectors in Jammu.

Parimoksh Seth raised concerns over the neglect of youth, especially in education and sports, and warned that continued sidelining could have serious consequences.

The BJP leaders urged the Omar Abdullah-led government to ensure fairness, development and justice for Jammu in the upcoming budget.(KINS)
