First batch of 431 J&K Haj Pilgrims departs for Saudi Arabia

Srinagar, Apr 18 (KINS): The first batch of 431 Haj pilgrims from Jammu and Kashmir departed for Saudi Arabia on Saturday, with Chief Minister Omar Abdullah seeing them off at Srinagar airport.

The group, comprising 230 men and 201 women, left in three flights.

Authorities said all arrangements, including transport, baggage handling and documentation at Haj House Bemina, were in place for a smooth process.

Hundreds of relatives gathered to bid farewell, while officials noted that a total of 4,764 pilgrims from J&K will undertake the pilgrimage this year. The Chief Minister extended his wishes for a safe and fulfilling journey and asked pilgrims to pray for peace and prosperity in the region. (KINS)
