PSAJK Raises Key Concerns of Private Schools Before Education Minister Through MP Altaf Larvi
Srinagar, June 23: In a significant move to highlight the challenges confronting private educational institutions in Jammu & Kashmir, Wahid Ahmad Banday, District President Poonch, Private Schools Association Jammu & Kashmir (PSAJK), met Member of Parliament Mohammad Altaf Larvi and apprised him of the pressing concerns of the private school fraternity.
The meeting was held at the request of Dr. Baba Nazrul Islam, President PSAJK, who entrusted Banday with the responsibility of representing the genuine concerns and challenges faced by private schools across Jammu & Kashmir and seeking intervention from the Government.
During the interaction, Banday emphasized that private schools have consistently served as vital knowledge partners of the Government and have played a crucial role in expanding access to quality education across the Union Territory. However, the Association expressed serious concern over the manner in which the sector’s legitimate issues continue to remain unresolved despite repeated assurances and the significant contribution made by private institutions to the educational landscape of J&K.
The PSAJK leadership conveyed growing apprehensions among school managements regarding delays in addressing pending matters, including clearance of files awaiting governmental approval, issuance of PNICs, and extension of affiliation-cum-recognition terms for educational institutions.
MP Mohammad Altaf Larvi assured the delegation that he would strongly advocate these concerns before the Government and personally take up the matter with Minister for Education, Sakina Itoo, to facilitate timely resolution of the pending issues affecting the private education sector.
Dr. Baba Nazrul Islam expressed optimism that the Government would take a positive and proactive approach towards addressing the concerns of private schools, recognizing their indispensable role in the educational development of Jammu & Kashmir.
The Association reiterated its commitment to working collaboratively with the Government for strengthening educational standards, ensuring student welfare, and promoting a conducive environment for quality education throughout the Union Territory.
