Srinagar, July 9 (KINS): Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday visited the Yatra Transit Camp and Yatri Niwas at Pantha Chowk in Srinagar to review arrangements for pilgrims undertaking the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra.
During the visit, the Lieutenant Governor interacted with pilgrims and officials and reviewed facilities, including accommodation, sanitation, security, healthcare, drinking water, power supply, firefighting measures and other essential services.
He directed officials to ensure round-the-clock care for all devotees and said no pilgrim should face any inconvenience during the pilgrimage.
“From registration to accommodation and food, no pilgrim should face any inconvenience. It is our collective responsibility to make their stay in Jammu and Kashmir comfortable and spiritually fulfilling,” Sinha said.
The Lieutenant Governor said the number of pilgrims during the first week of this year’s Yatra has surpassed last year’s figures, describing it as a positive sign for both the region’s spiritual heritage and tourism sector.
He also called for promoting Jammu and Kashmir’s handicrafts and handloom products among visiting pilgrims, saying it would support local artisans and strengthen the One District One Product (ODOP) initiative by connecting faith, culture and economic growth.
Sinha praised the coordinated efforts of the district administration, Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, police, security forces and other departments for ensuring smooth conduct of the pilgrimage. He stressed the need to maintain close coordination, effective crowd management, hassle-free registration and timely information for pilgrims.
He also directed strict legal action against anyone found involved in fraudulent registration practices.
The Lieutenant Governor was accompanied by Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat, Amarnathji Shrine Board CEO Dr. Mandeep K. Bhandari, IGP Kashmir V.K. Birdi, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Anshul Garg, DIG Central Kashmir Range Rajiv Pandey, SSP Srinagar G.V. Sundeep Chakravarthy, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Akshay Labroo, Municipal Commissioner Srinagar Faz Lul Haseeb and other senior officers.(KINS)
