MET predicts rain across J&K till August 10, warns of flash floods and landslides

Srinagar, Aug 3 (KINS): The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has forecast continued wet weather across Jammu and Kashmir over the coming week, with the possibility of heavy rainfall, flash floods and landslides in vulnerable areas.
According to the forecast, many parts of the Union Territory are likely to receive light to moderate rain and thundershowers on August 3 and 4, mainly during the afternoon, evening and early morning hours. The weather office has also warned of heavy rain, brief intense showers and torrential rainfall over a few districts during this period.
From August 5 to 7, light to moderate rain and thundershowers are expected at many places, while a few areas may witness brief spells of intense rainfall.
Between August 8 and 10, scattered places are likely to receive light rain and thundershowers, with isolated intense showers possible.
The MET Centre has issued an advisory, warning that a few districts in the Jammu division may experience heavy rain or intense showers on August 3 and 4.
It further cautioned that torrential rain and intense downpours could trigger flash floods, landslides and shooting stones at vulnerable locations over the next five days. Residents, tourists and commuters have been advised to remain vigilant and follow official weather advisories while planning travel.(KINS)
