Paras Health Srinagar performs advanced pancreatic procedure, crosses 600 EUS milestone

Srinagar, Aug 02 (KINS): Paras Health Srinagar has successfully carried out an advanced endoscopic procedure to treat a patient suffering from a serious pancreatic condition without the need for open surgery, hospital officials said on Sunday.
The patient had developed a large pancreatic fluid collection after severe pancreatitis. Doctors treated the condition using an Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS)-guided procedure with a HOT-AXIOS stent, a minimally invasive technique performed under minimal sedation.
Dr. Aadil Ashraf, Associate Director, Gastroenterology at Paras Health Srinagar, said the procedure reflects the availability of advanced gastroenterology treatment in Kashmir.
He said such cases are often treated through surgery or external drainage in many hospitals, but advanced endoscopy offers a safer option with less pain, faster recovery, and shorter hospital stays.
Dr. Ashraf said the Gastroenterology Department regularly performs advanced EUS-guided procedures, helping many patients avoid major surgeries for complex pancreatic and biliary diseases.
He also said the department has now completed more than 600 Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) procedures, making it one of the highest-volume centres in the region.
“We are grateful for the trust patients have placed in us. Crossing the 600 EUS milestone reflects our team’s expertise. We are also the largest procurer of Boston Scientific EUS equipment in Jammu and Kashmir, highlighting the advanced procedures being carried out at our centre,” he said.
Associate Vice President and Facility Director, Dr. Murtuza Habib, congratulated the gastroenterology team on the achievement. He said Paras Health Srinagar remains committed to providing advanced, accessible, and quality healthcare to the people of Jammu and Kashmir through modern medical technology and expert care.(KINS)
