BJP demands month-long J&K Assembly session, slams NC Govt

Jammu, Sept 15 (KINS): The Jammu and Kashmir BJP on Tuesday criticised the National Conference-led government over the limited duration of the upcoming Assembly session, with Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma demanding that it be extended to at least 30 days.

Addressing a press conference at the BJP headquarters, Sharma said the Assembly was the main platform for elected representatives to raise public concerns and accused the government of weakening legislative accountability.

The Autumn Session is scheduled from September 21 to 30, with three non-sitting days, leaving only seven scheduled sittings. Sharma said the limited number of sittings was insufficient to discuss the issues facing people across Jammu and Kashmir.

He also questioned the functioning of the Business Advisory Committee and urged Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather to reconsider the schedule and extend the session.

Sharma further alleged that governance and ministerial outreach remained inadequate and claimed that corruption was affecting people’s access to government services.

He said the BJP Legislature Party had held public interactions across districts to gather grievances and would raise the issues of people during the upcoming Assembly session.(KINS)
