J&K Government to shift offices to Jammu on November 2

Srinagar, Oct 20 (KINS): The Jammu and Kashmir government will shift its offices to Jammu under the biannual Darbar Move, with offices in Srinagar scheduled to close on October 30 and 31, depending on their workweek.

According to a government order, offices observing a five-day week will close after office hours on October 30, while those following a six-day week will close on October 31. All offices will reopen in Jammu on November 2.

The Darbar Move practice involves shifting the government’s functioning between Srinagar and Jammu according to the season. Discontinued in 2021 during the Lieutenant Governor’s rule, the practice was restored by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in 2025.(KINS)
