60% Power supply to be restored till afternoon: PDD Chief

Srinagar, Nov 4: The Power Development Department (PDD) Sunday said, ‘electricity of 60% areas will be restored across Kashmir valley till afternoon and officials are on job to restore all the areas till evening.
PDD chief Engineer told Kashmir Indepth that they have restored power supply in some areas in Srinagar. “Some areas have already been restored and around 60% supply is to be restored till afternoon,” the CE said.
The plains and upper reaches of the Valley experienced moderate to heavy snowfall on saturday.
After the snowfall the power supply in the Valley was disrupted.
“Since morning our men and machinery were on the job to repair damaged poles and electric wires,” the CE mantained.
However sources said that in some rural areas it would take time to restore the electricity.
On damage to transformers and other infrastructure by the snowfall, Chief engineer said the department was assessing the damage.
