Woman dies, health official injured in Gurez shelling

Srinagar, July 31 : A woman died while as a health official suffered injuries after India and Pakistani armies exchange shelling in Gurez sector of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district late Tuesday evening.

Reports reaching said that the woman namely Rahimi Begum (35) wife of Abdul Ahad Bhat and the employee of health department Manzoor Ahmad Malik sustained serious wounds after a shell landed in the residential area of Bagtore Gurez late last evening.

Both the injured were immediately taken to nearby hospital from where the woman was referred to SMHS Srinagar in critical conditions, they said. However, the woman later at around 2:00am succumbed to injuries.

A police officer said that the duo were injured on Tuesday night after a shell fired by Pakistani forces landed in the residential area of Bagtore.

He confirmed that the woman succumbed later in SMHS hospital here. (GNS)
