Budgam residents protests against power tariff hike

Budgam, Feb 01 :  Residents of various villages of Budgam on Saturday held a protest demonstration outside Deputy Commissioner Office Budgam against electricity fee hike.

The resident of Mujpathri, Pasnat Wader, Thrasi Wader, Daji Wader,Lanji Labb, and Dragar said they are Nomads and take their livestock for grazing in forests for six months

“PDD department is charging us power tariff for these hike months. This is sheer injustice with us,” they told KNS.

 Earlier the PDD was charging them Rs 50 per month and then they were charged Rs 108 Per month and from the post August 5, they are being charged as Rs 373 per months which is not affordable, they said.

 They also complained that in these winter months they are not receiving the power supply as per the schedule,

They were demanding waiving of fee of six months.

Later, Deputy Commissioner Tariq Hussain Ganie assured the protesters that after clearing the pending bills they will be charged Rs 108 per month, protestors claimed. (KNS).
