Police arrests 04 drug peddlers, psychotropic and contraband substances recovered

February 28:  Police in its recent action against drug dealings in Budgam and Handwara have arrested four drug peddlers and recovered psychotropic and contraband substances from their possession.

 In Budgam, officers at a checkpoint near Check Kawoosa on Gulmarg-Srinagar road intercepted two drug peddlers and recovered 240 capsules of Spasmoproxyvon and 132 bottles of Codeine Phosphate from their possession. They have been identified as Imtiyaz Ahmad Pandit and Mohammad Amin Dar both residents of Check Kawoosa.

  

Case FIR No. 27/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Magam. Both the drug peddlers have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody.

Further investigation into the matter is in progress.

 In Handwara, officers at a checkpoint near Muqam-Chowk Ananwan intercepted two drug peddlers and recovered 250gms of Charas from their possession. They have been identified as Ajaz Ahmad Bhat resident of Kralgund and Mohammad Qasim Mir resident of Wadder Payeen. They have been arrested and shifted to Police Station Kralgund where they remain in custody.

          Case FIR No. 08/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Kralgund. Further investigation into the matter is in progress.

        Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.

 Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace as reiterated in our community meetings.
