GDC Kalakote observes Rashtriya Ekta Diwas 

Kalakote Nov 1: GDC Kalakote in collaboration with NSS unit and Red Ribbon Club of College, Saturday observed National Unity Day (Rashtriya Ekta Diwas) to commemorate the 145th birth anniversary of late Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. 

Rashtriya Ekta Diwas or National Unity Day is celebrated on 31st October every year since 2014 to mark the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. This year marks the 145th birth anniversary of the freedom fighter and an ace politician.

Speaking up on this occasion, Principal GDC Kalakote, Dr. Romesh Kr. Gupta said that India is a land of unity in diversity where people of diverse religion, tradition, culture, languages and heritage live together in a single country. India is also called the land of unity in diversity because the different groups of people co-operate with each other to live in a single society. Unity in diversity has also become strength of India and to maintain the nation’s unity and to acknowledge Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s efforts in uniting the nation, national unity day or Rashtriya Ekta Diwas is celebrated every year. Dr. Romesh Kr. Gupta further added that National unity day is observed to promote national integration among citizens as well as to maintain the unity and integrity of our country also this observance is not only to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel who was the architect of national integration of independent India, but also to reaffirm the inherent strength and resilience of the nation to withstand the actual threats to the unity, integrity and security of our country. In the end of the programme, a National Unity Pledge was taken by Dr. Romesh Kr. Gupta along with the Convenor of NSS unit and Red Ribbon Club, Prof. Sachin Kumar Bhagat and the other staff members of the college Prof. Anayat Ullah Khan, Dr. Dinesh Sharma, Prof. Sanjogita Kumari, Dr. Afa Dul Mujiaba, DrPinkey Rakwal, Prof. Shivani Thakur, Dr, Naseer Sofi, Prof. Marve Sofi, Dr. Mohd. Shakoor and Manoj Sharma.
