SFs bust LeT module in Bandipora, arrest 3 militant associates

 

Srinagar, Jul 16 (KINS) Security forces have busted a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) module by arresting three Over Ground Workers (OGWS) along with arms and ammunition, including a pistol, in north Kashmir district of Bandipora, a police official said on Friday.

 

He said on specific input, police along with 14 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and 3rd battalion of CRPF arrested three militant associates, identified as Suhaib Ah Malik alias Asif, Aejaz Ahmad Najar, both resident of Gundpora and Touseef Ahmad Sheikh resident of Chittaybanday in Bandipora.

 

He said the trio is affiliated with LeT, adding arms and ammunition — including one pistol along with ammunition — fake SIM cards, forged documents etc were recovered from their possession.

 

“Preliminary investigation revealed that they were involved in providing logistics and other support like fake SIM cards to active LeT militants,” he said.

 

Besides, he said the trio was also in contact with active LeT militants across the border including operational commander Babar who had tasked them to monitor the movement of Police, security forces and political functionaries in the area. “Babar had also promised the trio for the supply of three AK rifles in coming days so that they could formally join the militant ranks. They were further tasked to carry out weapon snatchings till the consignment of weapons could be smuggled in and delivered to them,” he said.

 

He said a case vide FIR No 26/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Argam and investigation into the matter has been initiated.( Source UNI)
