DLSA reaches out to families of under trials at B’pora

BANDIPORA, JULY 3 (KINS): A team of District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Bandipora on Saturday visited families of several under trial persons belonging to marginalized and weaker sections of the society in the district.

Secretary Legal Services Authority, Faiq Nazir said that the Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs) visited these families on the directions of Executive Chairman JK State Legal Services Authority, Justice Ali Mohammad Magray.

She said that the PLVs were directed to identify and visit the families of Under Trial Prisoners belonging to the marginalized and weaker sections of the society and provide them legal assistance with respect to the different welfare schemes.

Faiq Nazir said the PLVs visited the far-flung area of the district including Zoorimanz. “They have found that the condition of a family of the Under Trial is heart wrenching. The family comprises two minor daughters aged 3 years and 10 years both are blind and suffering from cerebral palsy, “she added and said that the family at this point of time has no source of income.

Secretary DLSA said that she contacted the NGO namely J&K Association of Social Workers and with their help, the Cerebral Palsy Chair was provided to the grandmother of the girls. Also the NGO namely Orphan’s in Need provided food kits to the family.

She said the case of the minors has been also processed for scholarship by the orphans in need. “The DLSA Bandipora also assisted the family in getting ration cards under AAY scheme”.(KINS)
