Sopore shuts over local militants killing

Sopore: Protests erupted in Sopore area of Baramull district after two local militants were killed in an overnight gunfight with government forces in Brath Gund area here. 

Protesting youth took to streets and hurled stones on the forces who were withdrawing from the Brath Gund area.

Government forces retaliated with firing tear gas shells to disperse protesters. The slain militants were identified as Owais Bhat and Tahir Ahmad Dar. Spontaneous shutdown was observed in Sopore over the killings. Reports said that all shops and other commercial establishments came to halt as the news of militants killing spread.
