NC alone can meet challenges faced to J&K: Slathia

SRINAGAR, DEC 30 : Former minister and State Secretary of National conference Surjeet Singh Slathia described peoples’ massive support to National Conference as its biggest strength, saying this will enable the party to meet the challenges confronting the state with much more vigour and confidence.

“Peoples unflinching faith in the party, which stands for Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, Christian and Buddhist Itehad and opportunities of progress to all, has been source of inspiration to carry forward the mass movement and channelize it for the betterment of all the three regions and their sub-regions”, Slathia said while addressing a public meeting at Village Garwal in Ramgarh area Vijaypur Assembly Constituency.

Slathia said that National Conference represents the urges and aspirations of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh regions and it has all along worked towards development and progress of all irrespective of regional and religious affiliations. On the contrary, he said that the BJP and the PDP pushed the state to backwards during its recent failed tenure, under which the people were virtually left to fend for themselves, as developmental process had come to grinding halt and administrative inertia had further accumulated the problems in various areas.

He described the three years of the coalition as a period of despair, discontentment and disillusionment, as there was no governance visible on the ground at all. He elaborately dwelt upon the sufferings of the people during this tenure, especially those of border dwellers. He said the people were dejected and dismayed over disruption in peace and progress, which had been heralded by putting in hard toil by the Omar led government during the past six years.

Slathia exhorted the workers to gear up for meeting big challenges and work for making National Conference stronger so that it can satiate the urges and aspirations of the people.
