SRINAGAR, FEB 10 : Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has castigated BJP leader Jitendra Singh over opposing the demand of Divisional Status to Pir Panchal and Chenab valley, stating that the BJP leader has undermined the genuine aspirations of the people and is acting like a despot.
While leading a protest demonstration in Kishtwar, senior PDP leader and MLC Firdous Tak said that it has been the long pending demand of the people of Chenab Valley and Pir Panchal region that a separate division should be accorded to them so that they do not feel left out and could have a major say in addressing the development deficit.
He added that BJP leader Jitendra Singh by opposing the demand of Pir Panchal and Chenab valley has proven that his proximities aren’t with the peoples’ aspirations but with the corridors that allow him to enjoy luxurious of power. “Jitendra Singh must know that the people of the region will not commit the mistake again to choose him as their representative. He should construct a house in Delhi permanently as people aren’t going to accept him ever in the state,” Tak said in his address.
Launching a scathing attack on NC Vice President and former chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Tak said that it is ironic that at present Omar is making tall promises for Pir Panchal and Chenab valley and forgets that his government ignored these regions on all fronts and even to fulfil the demand of a degree college, people had to sacrifice twenty innocent lives. “Out of power, Omar Abdullah sometimes promises revocation of PSA and sometimes divisional status to Pir Panchal and Chenab valley. This is all vain delusion and such theatrics represent what NC stands for,” Tak said.
The PDP leader stated the people of Pir Panchal and Chenab valley deserve the divisional status like that of the Ladakh and if the government continues to ignores them, the situation would turn worrisome and herculean to handle.
District President Sheikh Nasir Hussain, Ishtiyaq Hussain Waza, Arshad Giri, Wasil Doolwal, Haji Ab Rasheed and others also addressed people on the occasion.
