Six Persons Held In Separate Incidents, Charas, Brown Sugar Recovered

Srinagar, March 30 : Jammu and Kashmir police on Saturday claimed it has arrested two narcotic smugglers from Nowgam area of Srinagar district and seized from their possession one kilogram of high-quality contraband Charas.

A police officer told that acting on a tip-off, the sleuths of police laid a naka at New Byepass near Lasjan and stopped a vehicle Xylo bearing registration number(JK01S-4452) for checking.

During the search of the vehicle, the officer said that one kilogram of high-quality Charas was recovered from the vehicle and the smugglers have been accordingly arrested.

The arrested persons have been identified as Zahid Ahmad Lone (Driver) son of Manzoor Ahmad Lone and Irshad Ahmad Wani son of Ghulam Rasool Wani, both residents of Wavoora, Kupwara.

The accused have been booked under relevant sections of the NDPS Act registered at police station concerned and further investigation taken up, the officer said.

Meanwhile, a police team arrested four persons in Nowhatta area of Old City, Srinagar alongwith brown sugar.
