Police arrest LeT militant at Tangmarg

Srinagar, April 4 : Police has said it apprehended an active militant of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) at Zandpal area of Tangmarg in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Thursday.

A senior police officer told that today afternoon, a cordon-and-search operation was launched in Zandpal and adjoining areas by a joint team of army’s 2 RR, SOG, police sub-division Tangmarg and CRPF 176 bn.

During searches, a suspicious movement of a person was observed and he tried to flee, however the forces challenged his movement and apprehended him, the officer said.

One live grenade was recovered from his possession and the person disclosed his name as Firdous Ahmad Kan son of Ghulam Mohiuddin Khan of Zandpal.

Firdous is an active militant of LeT outfit, the officer claimed.
He said a case under FIR number 19 /2019 under section 7/25 IA ACT was registered in police station Kunzer and further investigation set in motion. (GNS)
