Admin unlikely to allow PDP to visit Late Mufti’s Mausoleum tomorrow

Will take decision that will suit law and order: DC Ang; Iltija says family has got permission, party’s request turned down

Srinagar, Jan 06 : The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would unlikely be allowed to visit Mausoleum of its founder, Late Mufti Muhammad Sayeed on his fourth anniversary on January 7. However, only family members barring PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti have been allowed to visit the grave of Late Mufti to offer fateh prayers and to pay tributes.

Sayeed died on January 07 in the year 2016 when he was the chief minister of erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir State.

According to the wire service—, Mehbooba’s daughter Iltija Mufti said that only family members have been allowed to visit the mausoleum of Late Mufti. “The party has not been allowed,” she told. “PDP’s request has been turned down.”

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anantnag, Khalid Jehangir this afternoon told , that they have not taken any decision in this regard.

Nonetheless, Jehangir stated that he will talk to the officials concerned and will take the decision that will be in the best interest of law and order.

Asked whether PDP has approached him, Jehangir said that he don’t remember whether he has received any letter from them or not. “I will have to check,” he said.

Earlier on January 02, the daughter of incarcerated former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Mehbooba Mufti was put under house detention after she tried to visit the graveyard of her grandfather and former chief minister J&K Mufti Muhammad Sayeed.

Iltija Mufti, daughter of Mehbooba was scheduled to visit mausoleum of her grandfather today in Bijbehara area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district. She was scheduled to visit graveyard of her grandfather days ahead of his fourth death anniversary on January 07. (KNO)
