Heavy snowfall disrupts normal life in Kashmir

Srinagar: The Kashmir valley witnessed heavy snowfall on Monday disrupting aerial as well as surface connectivity for the valley state.

Kashmir experienced heavy snowfall during the night. Gulmarg saw morethan 5 feet of snow which brought life to a standstill while Srinagar recorded 3 feet of snowfall.

It started to snow in the late night on Saturday and continued till Monday morning. “It is one of the heaviest snowfall sofar this year in the plains of Kashmir,” said the Met Department official to Kashmir Indepth over phone.

A traffic official said that road connectivity from Srinagar to Jammu to remain suspended for traffic movement today due to heavy snowfall in Kashmir valley.

An official at airport told that many flights were cancelled due to poor visibility and bad weather to and from Srinagar International airport this morning he however said that efforts are on if weather improved will think on evening flights but most probably all flights ll be cancelled today as Kashmir has witnessed heavy snowfall officer added.

Meanwhile daily life activities have been majorly affected and the movement of people have also been disrupted. The authorities have however started the road clearance operations across the valley.
