Temperatures dip again in J&K, Gulmarg freezes at minus 8

Minimum temperatures again fall in the Kashmir Valley on Friday due to clear overnight sky, a Met official said.

“The minimum temperatures dropped further across Jammu and Kashmir today due to clear night sky. These temperatures are likely to drop further as the weather is likely to remain dry,” he said.

Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, recorded 2.4 degrees Celsius as the minimum temperature on today as compared to Thursday’s 3.6.

The famous ski resort of Gulmarg in north Kashmir, which experienced several feet of snowfall on various occasions last month, was the coldest place in Kashmir with a low of minus 8.0 degrees Celsius.

The famous hill resort of Pahalgam in south Kashmir recorded a minimum of minus 3.8 degrees Celsius.

Kupwara township of north Kashmir recorded a low of 0.8 degrees Celsius. Kokernag, in south Kashmir, recorded minus 0.9 degrees Celsius while Qazigund registered 0.8, he said.

In the Jammu region, Jammu city recorded 11.5 degrees Celsius, Katra recorded 9.4, Banihal 2.8, Batote recorded 4.0 and Bhaderwah 3.9 as the night’s lowest temperatures.
