COVID-19: Forest Deptt contributes Rs. 66.88 lakh to J&K Relief Fund

Srinagar, MAY 01 (KINS): Jammu and Kashmir Forest Department today contributed an amount of Rs 66.88 lakh towards J&K Relief Fund to augment the government’s efforts to combat COVID-19 pandemic.

The officers of the department voluntarily contributed two-day salary and other employees contributed one-day salary for the noble cause.

Besides, most of the DFOs and a large number of other officers and field staff are providing assistance to District authorities in their efforts to curb the transmission of the deadly disease.

The assistance to the administration against COVID-19 is in addition to the Department’s mandatory duty of forest protection, prevention and control of forest fires, nursery raising, plantations management and other duties.(KINS)
