Srinagar Police arrests a drug peddler; Psychotropic substance recovered

Srinagar, June 26 (KINS): Police Friday said that it arrested a drug peddler and recovered psychotropic substance from his possession.

In a statement issued to news agency Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS) police said that officers at a checkpoint established at Fatehkadal intercepted an Alto vehicle bearing registration number JK01H-6439 with one person onboard. “He has been identified as Irfan Gulzar Wani resident of Gousia Colony Illahi-bagh Srinagar. During checking officers were able to recover 15 Codeine Phosphate bottles from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to PS M.R.Gunj where he remains in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized”.

Accordingly, a case FIR No. 27/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station M.R.Gunj and investigation has been taken up.

“Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Police has resolved to deal robustly with drug peddlers”.

“Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace” (KINS)
