Army conducting water rafting expedition to celebrate Battle Honor Turtuk

Leh, Aug 19 (KINS ) The Army on Thursday commenced a four-day white water rafting expedition in the Union Territory of Ladakh to commemorate 50 years of Battle Honor Turtuk, 1971.

An Army spokesperson said that a white Water Rafting Expedition from Diskit to Turtuk is being conducted by Ladakh Scouts Regimental Centre to commemorate 50 years of Battle Honor Turtuk, 1971.

“The Rafting Expedition will be conducted from Thursday to August 23,” he said

He said the rafting team will have to negotiate Class-III and Class-IV rapids alongwith gorges in the Shyok River, adding operations had also progressed along the course of the river during 1971 and territory upto Turtuk was liberated by Ladakh Scouts soldiers.

“The expedition team comprising one Officer, one JCO, 12 Other Ranks will be covering a total distance of 90 Km,” he added.
