2 Day National Conference on NEP-2020, Teacher Education concludes at CoE, Srinagar

 

SRINAGAR, NOVEMBER 25 ( KINS): A Two-day National Conference on NEP-2020 and Teacher Education culminated successfully at Govt. College of Education, IASE, M. A. Road, Srinagar.

The inaugural session of the conference was presided over by Prof. Qayyum Hussain, Vice Chancellor (VC) Cluster University Srinagar.

In his presidential address, the VC congratulated the college for organizing the National level conference and encouraged to organise more such programs in future so that a good platform is provided to the stakeholders of NEP-2020, for discussions, exchange of ideas and suggestions to come up with something concrete and fruitful regarding implementation of NEP -2020 in Teacher Education.

Principal of the College, Prof. Dr. Ruhi Kanth in her address wholeheartedly extended a warm welcome to the dignitaries, other guests and participants and highlighted the need of organizing this conference.

Backdrop of the conference was presented by program coordinator Dr. M. Ashraf Wagi, Assistant Professor Department of Education.

The inaugural session was attended by Principals of all Constituent Colleges of Cluster University, Srinagar and Deans of various schools of Cluster University, Srinagar.

Prof. Satish K. Yadav, Former Head, Teacher Education, NCERT New Delhi delivered the keynote address.

Prof. Satish highlighted the need for introduction of Skill courses for students, 4-year Integrated Teacher Education Program, invited suggestions from the faculty for assessment of teacher aspirants.

The conference was spread over 4 technical sessions in which around 20 paper presenters from different colleges of the valley highlighted their views and suggestions regarding implementation of NEP-2020.

Each session was marked by the talk of Invited Speakers viz. Prof. Tania Gupta, Dean School of Education, K. R. Mangalam University, Gurugram; Prof. V. K. Shanwal, Department of Education, Gautam Buddha University; Prof. Zahoor Ahmed Geelani, Dean, School of Education, Central University of Kashmir; Prof. Reva Raina, Department of Education, Rishihood University Haryana; Prof. Debsari Banerjee, University of Kolkata; Prof. Fareeda Khan, Former Dean, Education, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi.

The Valedictory session of the conference was held on 23rd November, 2021 and was presided over by Additional Commissioner, Kashmir, Qazi Sarwar. Nodal Principal Kashmir Division, Prof. Khursheed Ahmed Khan (Principal, S. P. College, Srinagar) was also present in the function.
