MD KPDCL Busts Elaborate Underground Network for Electricity Theft During Late-Night Raid

Srinagar, Jan 07: In a surprising turn of events, the Managing Director of Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) joined inspection team from SD Huzuribagh and ED II, Srinagar, for an unscheduled late-night inspection today.
The collaborative effort led to the revelation of a well-organized ‘underground network’ meticulously designed for power theft.
During the inspection, MD KPDCL and the team discovered hidden connections, indicative of a sophisticated operation aimed at stealing electricity. Swift action was taken, resulting in the apprehension of those responsible for orchestrating the covert power theft network.

As per KPDCL the culprits were promptly booked under relevant sections of the law, and a hefty penalty was imposed on them. MD KPDCL emphasized the commitment to maintaining the integrity of the power distribution system and ensuring that such illegal activities are met with severe consequences.

This revelation underscores the ongoing challenges faced by power distribution authorities in curbing electricity theft.
