Forest Department Ramps Up Patrols to Combat Rising Forest Fire Threat in JK

Srinagar, Jan 19: In response to the escalating risk of forest fires, the Forest Department in Jammu and Kashmir has taken proactive measures by intensifying patrolling efforts in volatile forest areas. Recent incidents of forest fires have heightened concerns, prompting the department to establish dedicated patrolling teams to raise awareness among the public and protect the forests from potential blazes.

The deployment of these patrolling teams aims to cover key forested regions and engage in preventive measures to curb the threat of wildfires. The dry weather conditions prevalent in Jammu and Kashmir have amplified the vulnerability of the forests to potential fires, necessitating a comprehensive strategy to safeguard these vital ecosystems.

Forest officials emphasized the significance of creating awareness among local communities about the importance of forest fire prevention. The patrolling teams have been equipped not only to detect and address potential fire hazards promptly but also to educate residents on responsible practices to minimize the risk of accidental fires.

“The recent forest fire incidents have prompted us to be more vigilant and proactive in our approach. The dry weather poses a significant challenge, and our intensified patrolling is a preventive measure to ensure the safety of our forests and the communities relying on them,” stated a representative from the Forest Department.

The patrol teams will work in coordination with local authorities and communities to foster a collective responsibility for forest conservation. Educational initiatives and awareness campaigns will be a key component of the Forest Department’s strategy to mitigate the risk of wildfires and promote sustainable forest management practices.

“As the region faces heightened apprehensions due to the dry weather conditions, the Forest Department is determined to take every necessary step to protect the forests and preserve the biodiversity they harbor”.
The intensified patrolling efforts underscore the department’s commitment to proactive measures in the face of environmental challenges.
