Srinagar, May 06: Director General of Police for Jammu & Kashmir, R.R. Swain, visited the home of martyr Village Defence Guard (VDG) SPO Mohammed Sharif, who lost his life in a terror attack at Chochroo Gala area of Basantgarh. Accompanied by Additional Director General of Police, Jammu Zone Anand Jain, DIG U-R Range Rayees Mohammad Bhat, SSP Udhampur Joginder Singh, and other senior Police officers, the DGP conveyed heartfelt condolences on behalf of J&K Police to the martyr’s family.
Assuring unwavering support, he reiterated the Jammu and Kashmir Police department’s commitment to stand by the bereaved family during this difficult time. Additionally, the DGP presented a cheque of Rs. 5 lakhs to the family of the martyr as a token of solidarity.
Later in the day, R.R. Swain inspected the functioning of Police Station Basantgarh and reviewed crime records. Emphasizing comprehensive countermeasures against terror crimes, he underscored the department’s paramount duty of ensuring public safety. Stressing the need for heightened security measures in vulnerable areas, he urged officers to bolster communication within their ranks and strengthen security grids. Furthermore, he called for vigilant monitoring of suspicious activities to thwart terrorist attempts, emphasizing stringent action against individuals involved in unlawful activities.
