Omar Abdullah Congratulates New MPs, “Advocates for Justice for Imprisoned Kashmiris”

Srinagar, June 23: Former Chief Minister and National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah extended his congratulations to all the newly elected Members of Parliament, including those from Jammu and Kashmir, marking the occasion as significant for Indian democracy.
In a social media post, Abdullah “highlighted the win of Engineer Rashid from North Kashmir, emphasizing the need for Rashid to take his oath and represent his constituents”.
Abdullah also drew attention to the plight of imprisoned individuals, stressing the importance of allowing them to participate in the democratic process.
“Our Members of Parliament will vociferously demand justice for all prisoners, including Engineer Rashid. We will also demand the immediate transfer of these prisoners held in jails outside J&K back to jails in Kashmir, pending their release,” Abdullah stated.
He further called for a broader amnesty for all individuals detained after August 5, 2019.
