Power Connection Mandatory for Under-Construction Buildings: KPDCL

SRINAGAR, JULY 12: The Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) has mandated that owners of under-construction commercial and residential buildings must immediately apply for a temporary electricity connection (TC) at their respective Electric Subdivision offices. This requirement aims to ensure that all construction operations requiring electricity are legally powered.
According to a press statement from a KPDCL spokesperson, any unauthorized use of electricity in under-construction buildings will result in punitive action under the Electricity Act. The spokesperson emphasized that the necessary procedures outlined in the Supply Code must be followed to obtain a TC easily.
Executive Engineers of KPDCL have been instructed to inspect and compile a list of under-construction buildings, detailing their power connection status. For those who apply, KPDCL will provide a temporary line with a meter at a specified rate, which will be converted to a permanent connection at the notified tariff upon completion of the construction.
The spokesperson also warned that stringent action would be taken against owners who fail to apply for a TC and are found using electricity illegally.
