Srinagar, July 13: IGP Kashmir Zone V.K Birdi chaired a security review meeting at PCR Kashmir. Attendees included DIG CID Srinagar, DD IB Srinagar, DIG SSB Kashmir, DIG Armed Kashmir, DIsG of Kashmir Zone Police, DIsG of CRPF South, North & Ops Sector Srinagar, DIG BSF Panthachowk, DIG ITBP Kashmir, DC SB Srinagar, SSP Srinagar, SSP Traffic Rural & City, SSP CID CIK, SSP APCR Srinagar, SSP Security Kashmir, SSP PCR Kashmir, all district SSsP of Kashmir Zone, and other officers.
The meeting focused on security arrangements for the upcoming Muharram, addressing challenges in managing religious processions, crowd control, traffic regulation, and maintaining law and order. IGP Kashmir directed officers to ensure comprehensive security measures, increase surveillance on anti-national elements and mischief mongers, and enhance vigilance during night processions. He emphasized visiting Imambargahs and Mosques to review security and conducting coordination meetings with both Sunni and Shia community members. Engagement with Shia community leaders for peaceful event conduct was stressed, along with the development of district-specific security strategies and route plans.
Additionally, the officers briefed IGP Kashmir on the ongoing SANJY and its status. IGP Birdi directed strict adherence to cut-off timings for pilgrim safety and emphasized maintaining vigilance during devotee movements to ensure a safe and incident-free yatra.
