Security Forces Launch Major Operation in Kapran Garol Area, South Kashmir: Army

Srinagar, August 10: The Indian Army said that following confirmation on August 5 that terrorists responsible for recent incidents in the Doda region had crossed into the Kapran Garol area of South Kashmir, security forces initiated a targeted operation. The terrorists had infiltrated the region through the Kishtwar range.
“On the night of August 9 and 10, the Rashtriya Rifles and J&K Police began precise operations in the mountainous terrain east of Kapran, where the militants were believed to be hiding. The operation, however, faced significant challenges due to the difficult terrain, which includes high altitudes, thick undergrowth, boulders, and streams.
At around 1400 hours on August 10, suspicious movement was detected, leading to an engagement. The terrorists responded with indiscriminate and desperate firing, resulting in injuries to two Army personnel and two civilians. The terror-related background of the injured civilians is currently being investigated”.
“Despite the challenging conditions, security forces are conducting the operation with caution and are making progress. The search for the terrorists is ongoing and will continue through the night” the PRO Defence said in a statement.
