Srinagar, August 23(KINS):The Director General of Police (DGP) of Jammu and Kashmir, R.R. Swain, today conducted an extensive visit to the districts of Doda and Kishtwar in the Jammu Zone to assess the security scenario and review preparations for the upcoming 2024 Legislative Assembly Elections.
Swain was accompanied by senior officials, including Special Director General and DGP Designate Nalin Prabhat, ADGP Law and Order Vijay Kumar, and ADGP Jammu Zone Anand Jain. The visit commenced with an inspection of security arrangements at Shri Machail Mata Mandir in Machail Padder for the ongoing Machail Mata Yatra-2024.
Throughout the day, the DGP chaired high-level meetings at the District Police Office (DPO) in Kishtwar and Dak Bungalow in Bhaderwah, Doda. These meetings focused on reviewing security strategies and the preparedness for the upcoming elections in both districts. The DGP emphasized the need for coordination among J&K Police, CRPF, Army, civil administration, and intelligence agencies to ensure the peaceful and fair conduct of the elections while strengthening counter-terrorism efforts.
Discussions also revolved around providing adequate accommodation and amenities for the troops being deployed during the elections. The DGP received updates on the action plans addressing security challenges in the region.
Senior officials, including SSP Kishtwar Abdul Qayoom and SSP Doda Mohd Aslam, provided detailed presentations on the current security landscape and election readiness in their respective districts. The meetings were attended by Deputy Commissioners, Army officers, and officials from CAPF and intelligence agencies.
During his visit, the DGP also inspected the Police Control Room (PCR) and CCTV Surveillance Room at DPO Kishtwar, issuing directives to enhance surveillance and monitoring efforts.
In a poignant moment, the DGP and accompanying officers paid homage to the fallen heroes of the J&K Police by laying wreaths at the martyrs’ memorial in Kishtwar.(KINS)
