Eid-e-Milad celebrated with reverence across Kashmir

KINS DESK

Srinagar, Sep 17 (KINS): Eid-e-Milad, the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), was observed with traditional fervor across the Kashmir valley on Tuesday.
The most significant gathering took place at the revered Hazratbal shrine, situated on the banks of Dal Lake, which houses the holy relic of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
As per news agency KINS, thousands of devotees, including men, women, and children, participated in the night-long prayers known as “Shab Khawani.” The atmosphere was charged with devotion as the holy relic of the Prophet was displayed at Hazratbal following the prayers, creating emotional scenes among the worshippers.
Similar night-long prayers were held at various locations throughout the Kashmir valley, including Jenab Sahib Soura in downtown Srinagar. Stringent security measures were enforced around the Hazratbal shrine, with police closely monitoring traffic and parking to ensure the safety of the participants.
In south Kashmir’s Anantnag, a large Milad-un-Nabi procession was held, with participants, including women and children, marching through various routes while chanting religious slogans.
Despite the significance of Milad-un-Nabi falling on Tuesday, the Jammu and Kashmir government did not shift the official holiday. Hurriyat Conference chairman and Kashmir’s Chief Cleric Mirwaiz Umar Farooq criticized the administration for not aligning the official holiday with the celebration date.
Mirwaiz Umar Farooq expressed his discontent, stating, “As Eid-e-Milad is on Tuesday, the state holiday should have been observed on that day.(KINS)
