NC, Congress following Pakistan’s agenda in J&K Elections: Priya Sethi

‘Rahul Gandhi must clarify stance on Article 370’
Srinagar, Sep 21 (KINS): Senior BJP leader and former minister Priya Sethi has strongly criticized the National Conference (NC) and Congress, accusing them of advancing Pakistan’s agenda in the ongoing Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections.
Speaking at a rally for the BJP’s Jammu East candidate, Sethi took note of a statement by Pakistan’s Defence Minister, claiming it “exposes” the NC and Congress’s alignment with Pakistani interests.
Sethi argued that Pakistan’s interference in J&K elections is aimed at destabilizing the region, which has been largely peaceful since the Modi government’s revocation of Article 370. She emphasized that Pakistan’s actions suggest that it is directing Congress and NC to foster unrest and disrupt the calm achieved in Kashmir.
Demanding accountability from the Congress and NC leadership, Sethi called on Rahul Gandhi and Farooq Abdullah to publicly address the Defence Minister’s statement. “It is crucial for them to clarify their stance in light of Pakistan’s interference. Their silence raises serious concerns about their commitment to national integrity,” she stated.
Sethi also accused both parties of prioritizing political gain over the well-being of Kashmiris. “It is now an established fact that NC and Congress want to keep J&K in turmoil for their own political interests, disregarding the aspirations of ordinary Kashmiris who now trust the democratic process,” she added.
Sethi noted the high voter turnout in the first phase of the elections as a clear indication that people in the Valley are invested in peace and progress. “The people of Kashmir want a peaceful atmosphere, and they know this is only possible under the Modi government,” she said.
The BJP leader highlighted the positive developments since the abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019, including increased investments, improved infrastructure, better security, and a surge in tourism. “Jammu and Kashmir has seen a transformation, integrating into the national mainstream. Central government initiatives have opened new opportunities for the youth, fostering hope and a sense of belonging,” she remarked.
Sethi stressed the need to safeguard the unity and integrity of the region, urging the people of Jammu and Kashmir to reject divisive politics. “We must unite against any forces that threaten the peace and stability we’ve achieved. The future of J&K should be built on development and harmony,” she asserted.
Reaffirming the BJP’s commitment, Sethi assured that the party would continue to uphold the sovereignty and integrity of Jammu and Kashmir, ensuring that the region progresses on the path of peace and integration with the rest of India.(KINS)
