Aru Village wins best Tourism Villages Award 2024

Srinagar, Sep 27 (KINS): On World Tourism Day, Aru village in Jammu and Kashmir won the Adventure Tourism Award at the Best Tourism Villages Competition 2024.
This award celebrates the village’s success in keeping its natural beauty while promoting adventure tourism in a sustainable way.
As per the news agency KINS, the Best Tourism Villages Competition started in 2023 to recognize villages that protect their cultural and natural heritage while focusing on sustainable tourism.
This year, the competition saw 991 villages from 30 states and Union Territories participate, with 36 villages winning in different categories. Aru stood out by winning in the adventure tourism category, known for activities like trekking, skiing, and camping.
A local official expressed pride in the achievement, saying, “This award puts Aru on the map as a top spot for adventure tourism. We are dedicated to preserving the environment while welcoming tourists to experience the village’s natural beauty.”
Aru, located in the Himalayan foothills, is popular among tourists for its stunning views and outdoor activities. Local leaders also shared their happiness about the award and stressed the importance of protecting the environment while using tourism to help the local economy grow responsibly.
“Aru is not just about adventure; it’s an example of how villages can combine traditional life with modern tourism,” said a local resident.
With this award, Aru is expected to draw even more tourists, while continuing its focus on sustainability and preserving its culture.(KINS)
