Missing soldier’s body found in Kokernag

Srinagar, Oct 9: The body of a Territorial Army soldier, who went missing during an anti-militancy operation in Kokernag, has been recovered.

According to sources, the soldier’s body was found in the dense woods of Kazwan in Kokernag, where he had gone missing last evening during a joint counter-terrorism operation.

Earlier, the Army, in a post on ‘X’, had announced that the operation was launched on October 8, 2024, by the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and other agencies following specific intelligence inputs.

“Based on intelligence inputs, a joint counter-terrorism operation was launched by the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and other agencies in the Kazwan Forest area of Kokernag on October 8, 2024,” the Army stated, adding that a Territorial Army soldier had gone missing during the operation.
