Srinagar, Oct 10 (KINS) : Most weather stations across the Kashmir Valley recorded a drop in night temperatures, with many falling below normal on Thursday, following fresh snowfall in the higher elevations on Wednesday, officials reported.
The Meteorological Centre in Srinagar has forecast mainly clear to partly cloudy skies for the next 24 hours, with a possibility of light rain in isolated areas of the Kashmir division. The weather is expected to remain dry until October 16, according to their predictions.
Except for Kupwara, which recorded a minimum temperature of 1.3°C above normal, all other weather stations reported below-normal temperatures after the snowfall in the higher regions. In Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, the minimum temperature was 0.2°C below the normal 7.5°C, as per the Meteorological office.
Pahalgam, a popular tourist destination in south Kashmir, recorded a temperature of 2.4°C, which is 1.4°C below its normal of 6.6°C. Kokernag registered a low of 7.6°C, 0.2°C below the normal 7.8°C for this south Kashmir picnic spot.
Gulmarg, the well-known ski resort in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, recorded a low of 3.0°C, which was 1.7°C below its normal temperature, the MeT office added. ( KINS )
