Srinagar, Oct 10 (KINS): The National Conference (NC) Legislature Party meeting is scheduled to take place today afternoon to discuss the Jammu and Kashmir government formation with its alliance partner Indian National Congress.
Irshad Rasool Kar, the newly elected National Conference representative from Sopore, told news agency Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS) that all newly elected Members of the Legislative Assembly from the National Conference will be attending the meeting.
“The meeting is scheduled today afternoon,” National Conference senior leader Nasir Aslam Wani told KINS over phone.
The meeting besides this will also discuss the Government formation with its alliance partner Congress. The legislators will also discuss the Common Minimum Programme.
Sources in the National Conference said that the Congress party will likely hold their own internal meeting first. “After that, we’ll need to convene an alliance meeting, as it’s essential for us to collectively approach the Lieutenant Governor with the necessary letters of support. Once those are secured and the leadership of the Alliance is finalized, the chosen leader will visit Raj Bhavan to meet the LG and request a date for the swearing-in ceremony,” NC sources said.
Meanwhile, one of the Congress leaders in Srinagar told KINS that Congress Jammu and Kashmir Chief Tariq Hameed Karra is likely to reach back to Srinagar from New Delhi today evening or tomorrow morning to sit in a meeting of the Congress Legislature Party to elect the CLP leader.
They will also discuss the issue of formation of the Government with the NC.
Congress has won six seats-five in Kashmir and one in Jammu.
After Legislature Party leaders of both NC and Congress are elected, the alliance partners will elect their joint leader who will be the next Chief Minister.(KINS)
