KPDCL initiates infrastructure upgrades ahead of winter to improve power supply

Srinagar, October 16 (KINS): As winter approaches in Kashmir, the Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) has commenced efforts to upgrade its infrastructure to ensure a more reliable power supply during the colder months.
Top officials have instructed teams across various subdivisions to begin modernization work, including branch cutting and other maintenance tasks, to prevent outages and hardships for consumers.
News agency KINS reported that to facilitate these upgrades, the KPDCL has issued division-wise power shutdown schedules across Kashmir, ensuring the safe execution of ongoing works. According to KPDCL’s Chief Engineer for Distribution, these shutdowns are necessary for various critical projects, including the construction of a 33KV Pulwama 2nd Circuit and pole erection under RDSS Works.
Key areas that will experience temporary power outages between October 16 and 23, 2024, include Pulwama, Kanipora, Bemina, Karan Nagar, Safakadal, Gurez, Pahalgam, Sonamarg, and others. The affected regions will experience power cuts between 9 AM and 5 PM, depending on the project location.
KPDCL is taking these measures to stabilize the power supply ahead of the winter season and minimize potential disruptions for residents across the valley. (KINS)
