LG Manoj Sinha assigns departments to newly inducted ministers in JK UT

Srinagar, Oct 18 (KINS): Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, formally assigned various government departments to the newly inducted Ministers of the Union Territory as per Rule 4(2) of the Transaction of Business of the Government of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir Rules, 2019.
The order, published for general information under No. 1791-JK(GAD) of 2024, outlined the allocation of responsibilities to Ministers. The allocation is aimed at ensuring smooth governance and effective administration within the Union Territory.
News agency KINS reported that Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary has been tasked with overseeing critical sectors such as Public Works (R&B), Industries and Commerce, Mining, Labour and Employment and Skill Development. Meanwhile, Sakeena Masood has been assigned portfolios including Health & Medical Education, School Education, Higher Education, and Social Welfare.
Other notable assignments include Javed Ahmed Rana, who will manage Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology & Environment, and Tribal Affairs, while Javaid Ahmad Dar will be responsible for Agriculture Production, Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, Cooperative, and Election Departments.
Satish Sharma has been tasked with overseeing the Food supplies and consumer affairs, transport, science and technology, information technology youth service and sports and ARI and training.
Any departments or subjects not allocated to the Ministers will remain under the charge of the Chief Minister, ensuring centralized oversight of key government activities.(KINS)
