ANTF Kashmir arrests woman absconding in NDPS case after three years

Srinagar Jan 02 (KINS): Continuing its sustained crackdown on drug trafficking, the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) Kashmir has arrested a woman drug peddler who had been absconding for the past three years in a case registered under the NDPS Act.
The accused, identified as Tamana Ashraf, daughter of Mohammad Ashraf and a resident of Batamaloo, Srinagar, was wanted in FIR No. 10/2023 registered at ANTF Jammu under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act. She had been evading arrest since the registration of the case.
According to officials, the accused is involved in the trafficking of over 7 kilograms of charas, which was being transported to Mumbai through courier services. After the case was registered, she reportedly moved across different states to avoid arrest.
However, following sustained surveillance and intelligence-led operations, ANTF J&K teams successfully traced her movements and tactfully apprehended her from her residence in Batamaloo on January 1, 2026.
Officials said the arrest reflects the relentless efforts and commitment of ANTF J&K to dismantle narcotics networks and bring offenders to justice, reaffirming its zero-tolerance approach towards drug-related crimes.(KINS)
