Srinagar, Oct 23 (KINS): Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah, met with Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi today, emphasizing the pressing need for the reinstatement of Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood.
Sources told news agency KINS that during the half-hour-long meeting, Abdullah brought attention to the various challenges faced by the people of the region, discussing both political and socio-economic issues. Omar described the interaction as productive, with a clear focus on shedding light on the current situation and determining the path forward.
Abdullah has been vocal about the need for the restoration of statehood since the abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019, which led to the bifurcation of Jammu and Kashmir into two Union Territories.
He reiterated the importance of statehood to ensure better governance and to address the ongoing concerns of the people.
Meanwhile CM Omar Abdullah in a social media post said, “Met with the Union Home Minister, Shri Amit Shah Ji earlier today in #newdelhi I emphasized the urgent need for the reinstatement of statehood during our meeting. Additionally, I brought to light the various challenges faced by the people of Jammu and Kashmir. It was a productive half-hour discussion that shed light on the current situation and the path forward”.(KINS)
