Srinagar, Nov 21 (KINS): National Conference President Dr. Farooq Abdullah on Tuesday emphasized the need for a ‘thorough investigation into the allegations surrounding the Adani Group’.
Speaking to reporters in Srinagar, Dr. Farooq expressed hope that the central government would seriously consider the calls for a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probe and initiate a comprehensive inquiry to uncover the truth behind the allegations.
“There is no doubt that demands for a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) have been raised, and I hope the government will take this seriously. A complete investigation should be conducted to understand how this happened and the reasons behind it,” Dr. Farooq said, according to news agency KINS.
While refraining from commenting on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s recent statements, Dr. Abdullah acknowledged the international spotlight on the issue, particularly regarding alleged economic irregularities. “If such allegations are true, it is a matter of great concern. Transparency is crucial in these matters,” he remarked.
He also highlighted the allegations involving officials from Jammu and Kashmir during 2021-2022 and stressed the need for a localized probe in the region. “Our government in Jammu and Kashmir should also investigate this from our side. Slowly, things will come to light. We need to ensure that any irregularities are exposed and addressed,” he added. (KINS)
