Jammu, Nov 12 : Lt Gen M.V. Sudhindra Kumar, the Northern Commander of the Indian Army, visited the White Knight Corps (XVI Corps) headquarters in Jammu to assess the operational readiness of the troops amid ongoing anti-terrorism efforts. This visit comes as security forces conduct intensified search operations in Kishtwar district following a series of violent incidents.
The heightened security measures are focused in the remote forest regions of Keshwan and Kuntwara, where recent encounters with terrorists led to the death of Naib Subedar Rakesh Kumar from the 2 Para Regiment and injuries to three other soldiers. In a separate incident, Village Defence Guards Nazir Ahamed and Kuldeep Kumar were abducted and killed.
According to security officials, Jammu has witnessed 44 fatalities in terror-related incidents this year, including 18 security personnel. While the traditionally affected districts of Rajouri and Poonch saw a decline in attacks, recent events in Kishtwar, Reasi, Doda, and other areas have spurred increased vigilance and a sustained response from security agencies.
The Northern Command emphasized maintaining high standards of professionalism and alertness in the ongoing operations, with Lt Gen Kumar urging personnel to remain vigilant in safeguarding the region against emerging threats.
