Srinagar, Nov 12 (KINS): Fresh snowfall was reported in several areas, with around 8 inches accumulating at Sinthan Top.
Gulmarg and Sonamarg also saw fresh snowfalls, while Zojila Pass recorded a substantial amount of snow, making it a busy time for the Border Roads Organisation (BRO).
Due to the snowfall, the Srinagar-Leh Highway was temporarily closed until BRO teams could clear the snow and make the road safe for travel.
News agency KINS reported that late last night, about 20 civilian vehicles became stranded at Razdan Pass because of the snow.
The BRO’s 56 RCC/32 BRTF battalion quickly deployed snow-clearing equipment overnight, clearing the road by 5:00 AM to ensure the safety of all civilians.
“Our teams are trained and ready for quick action in extreme conditions. Our goal is to keep these key routes open and safe,” said a BRO officer.(KINS)
